If you assign 2GB for video it leaves roughly 1.8GB for system memory regardless of how much is installed.) Make sure you have 64-bit Windows, but if you have 32-bit W10 and can't be bothered to reinstall W10 64-bit then get a 1GB version of the GT740 or similar (you only have 4GB for system and video memory. *There are some inexpensive GPUs that are compatible, but it depends on what you are doing. Microsoft installs a BASIC driver however he needs to buy a GPU compatible with Windows 10. They've made significant changes with Windows graphics requiring new drivers.

Install it the way I mentioned in my previous post.

You'll note that the 7300 GT is not supported by the drivers you listed, at least according to your link: Also, I think I should try to take a card with around the same power consumption, right? My CPU is a Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E4500 2.20 GHz. At $50 you might get maybe a quarter of the performance of a GTX750Ti though your CPU is going to factor into this as well. And frankly, once you start to drop below $100USD the performance of cards plummets. Minecraft isn't exactly lightweight though.

This computer will be mostly used for Word/Powerpoint, surfing on the internet, maybe install Eclipse and code in Java but else then that, there will be no intensive program running and anyway, as soon this computer die(or maybe before), I will build myself a new computer to replace it. Well, the most intensive gaming I will use on this computer is Minecraft. Not sure if you play games, but a GTX750Ti isn't a bad choice for light/medium gaming (about $100+ last I checked) If you manually search and put in the "7-series" then you get W8.1 and lower, but not Windows 10. The card is NOT listed as having Windows 10 drivers. I think the processor is fast enough to handle Windows 10 and I can add RAM if I need to. It's never a good idea to load a new OS on old hardware.Īlso, the computer was becoming useless with Windows XP.

Otherwise your only choice is to upgrade the GFX card. My suggestion would be to roll back immediately. With a 10 year old PC or at least 10 year old components, it was unwise to upgrade to Windows 10. whereas Win 10 drivers exist for the 8xxx series, I haven't seen any for the 7xx series.

Uncheck the 1st box and proceed with the same steps for each successive box in the left panel. if ya find, one check that box and then click "Fix selected issues".ĥ.
